Semarang, Central Java – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has achieved another milestone in national technology innovation. The Jentayu Team from the UNDIP Robotic Development Center (URDC) successfully developed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This technology supports medical logistics delivery and emergency response services.
The team tested this innovation at the 2026 Indonesian Flying Robot Contest (KRTI). The competition took place from September 21–25, 2026, in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan.
Two UAV Technology Approaches: Jentayu Copter and Jentayu LELA
The UNDIP Jentayu Team introduced two flagship vehicles with distinct technological features:
-
Jentayu Copter: This vehicle is designed for rapid response over short distances. The team integrated Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) technology for high positioning accuracy. It also utilizes a full autonomous flight system. In the VTOL division of KRTI 2026, Jentayu Copter completed its mission in 28.6 seconds without a crash. This performance earned the team 1st Place.
-
Jentayu LELA: This vehicle addresses long-endurance low-altitude flight challenges. The team equipped it with a telemetry system boasting a 17-kilometer range. It also features optimal energy management and automatic hotspot validation. Jentayu LELA successfully secured 1st Honorable Mention.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration at UNDIP
The successful development of four UAV vehicles involved students from various departments. These students came from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. Other contributors included students from Informatics at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) and Vocational School.
Fahri Ali Izzudin and Muhammad Rafli Aryandi coordinated the student team. They received direct guidance from expert faculty advisors:
-
Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Munadi, S.T., M.T.
-
Erwin Adriono, S.T., M.T.
-
Rofiq Cahyo Prayogo, S.T., M.T.
Strategic Impact on Indonesia’s Logistics Services
UNDIP’s UAV innovation extends far beyond winning competitions. The KRTI 2026 event in IKN served as a testing ground for integrated technological systems. Testing covered precision navigation, flight automation, and long-range communication.
This development opens up massive opportunities for future applications. UAVs can be utilized for emergency medical logistics delivery. The technology also aids goods distribution to remote areas that are difficult to reach via land transport.
