UNDIP’s 69th Anniversary Strengthens Education and Research
The ceremony featured remarks from the Chair of UNDIP’s Academic Senate, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D., and UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. Their messages highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence, institutional collaboration, and research with a tangible impact.

UNDIP Innovations Deliver Solutions for Society
UNDIP continues to develop research and innovations that address real-world challenges. These initiatives demonstrate how university expertise can support communities, strengthen local economies, and promote sustainable development.
Among the initiatives highlighted were desalination systems implemented at 11 sites and efforts to develop anchovy-based businesses. The anchovy initiative has supported export activities to Japan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. It has also involved 1,200 fishers and created employment opportunities for 200 women.
In addition, UNDIP has developed a solar- and biomass-powered seaweed dryer. The university has also promoted food innovations to help address stunting, along with waste-management technologies involving composting, maggot cultivation, and pyrolysis.
These initiatives show how research can move beyond academic publications and generate practical benefits for communities.
Scientific Address Highlights Universities’ Role in National Development
The anniversary program also featured a scientific address by Prof. Datuk ChM. Ts. Dr. Taufiq Yap Yun Hin from Universiti Putra Malaysia. The address provided an international academic perspective on the role of universities in responding to contemporary challenges.
Universities play an important role in developing knowledge, nurturing talent, and creating solutions to complex social and economic issues. Therefore, collaboration among universities, government institutions, industry, and communities remains essential to achieving sustainable development.
UNDIP Advances World-Class Research with Global Impact
UNDIP continues to strengthen its research capacity and international academic reputation. In 2026, seven UNDIP academics were included in Elsevier’s list of the world’s top 2% of scientists. This achievement reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to improve research quality and expand its global academic contribution.
UNDIP also continues to develop its living laboratory approach. One example is its work in Bedono Village, Demak Regency, where research and community engagement can support responses to local challenges.
Furthermore, the university launched DELTA, its learning management system. This initiative supports the development of digital learning and strengthens UNDIP’s commitment to improving educational services.
UNDIP’s 69th Anniversary Recognizes Academic Achievements
The anniversary celebration also recognized achievements across the university community. UNDIP presented awards to faculties, celebrated newly graduated doctoral scholars, and acknowledged education staff for their contributions.
These recognitions reflect the collective efforts of lecturers, researchers, students, and administrative staff in supporting the university’s mission. Their contributions help strengthen UNDIP’s academic environment and institutional performance.
As UNDIP enters its 69th year, the university remains committed to collaboration, innovation, and meaningful contributions to society. Through education, research, and community engagement, UNDIP aims to create sustainable solutions and support Indonesia’s progress.
The anniversary theme, “Collaborate, Innovate, Make an Impact for the Nation,” therefore serves not only as a celebration motto but also as a call to action for the entire university community.
